Trail Overview
FS 9955 is a unique 1.4-mile bidirectional trail within the Manistee National Forest. Located off Good Road (FS 8160) from the east or Skocelas Road South from the west, this trail is easily accessible. Starting from the western end off of a nearby trail, you'll start off on a dirt road with towering trees all around you. The trail then enters a thicker portion of the forest that brings a different vibe and mood to the adventure. This was such a photogenic trail, so be sure to take some time to get out and really enjoy the beauty of all this has to offer. Towards the end of the trail, we did come across 2 rather large water/mud holes, so just be cautious of those. Like most Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail, including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. Come Prepared! This is not a difficult trail at all, but it contains a lot of fun and beauty, and gives access to other great trails nearby. Regardless of the conditions of this trail, it's a wonderful route to explore with a lot of fun to be had!
