Trail Overview
FS 9834 is a very overgrown and tight "out and back" trail within the Manistee National Forest. Located north of the town of Yuma and south of the town of Mesick, right off Highway M-37 near the Hodenpyl Dam Pond, this trail is easily accessible. Most of the trail is a combination of dirt, sand, grass, and leaves. This trail is closed to off-road vehicles such as SxS, dirt bikes, ATVs, etc. Highway Legal Vehicle use only. The tree life here is rugged and relentless. You may encounter overhanging or downed trees across this trail. As you continue, the trail descends in elevation all the way to the end. This route can be tricky to follow, but focus on your onX Offroad navigation to follow the correct path. This isn't a trail that sees much traffic at all. The overgrowth doesn't let up the entire route, so be prepared. Recent rainfall can cause downed trees, washouts, & mud holes. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle with limited places to pass. As always, PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY and be respectful of our public lands so future generations can have access to these trails! The end of this trail finishes with a loop to turn you back around to head back out to the start. This would be a good stopping point to stretch your legs or use this spot for other recreation in this area. This is not a difficult trail at all, but it does come with a lot of vegetation to overcome! Regardless of the length or conditions, this is a neat trail to check out!
