Trail Overview

NFS 7546/7457 is an interesting "out and back" trail within the Manistee National Forest. Located east of the town of Yuma and south of the town of Mesick, this trail is easily accessible. Most of the trail consists of dirt and leaves for the driving surface. Starting out from NFS 9978, you'll drop down into the trail into a small gully that could be used to disperse camp if you'd choose to. Shortly after, the trail thickens up with a lot of trees and overgrowth as you climb in elevation and begin twisting throughout the route. The twists and turns on this route, which isn't trafficked very often, can make navigating a bit confusing. Stick to the onX Offroad path, and you won't have any issues. As you continue, the trail continues to be thick with trees and vegetation and eventually leads to a couple of rutted-out sections. Nothing major, but noteworthy. Like most of Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause downed trees, washouts, & mud holes. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle with limited places to pass. As always, PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY and be respectful of our public lands so future generations can have access to these trails! The end of this trail finishes with an inspiring loop around a majestic section of towering pine trees. This is the icing on top of the cake for this track. There are a couple of spur trails off this route also.
