Trail Overview
FS 9652 is a seasonal out-and-back trail within the Manistee National Forest. Located just off East Baseline Road, this trail is easily accessible. Starting out, you'll begin on a gravel/dirt two-track. As you continue down the trail, you'll be greeted by a gorgeous section of towering red pine trees. Shortly after, the track begins to narrow with more overgrowth as well as low-hanging trees. There's a dispersed campsite right along the trail. If you plan on camping off this trail, PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY, and please seek more information at the local Department of Natural Resources Office/Ranger Station before camping here. As always, be respectful of our public lands so future generations can have access to these trails! As you weave along the remainder of the trail, you may come across some washouts and/or mud holes. Like most of Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail, including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. Come prepared. Most of this trail is only wide enough for one vehicle with limited places to pass. The end of the trail finishes at a small turnaround loop where you'll find a mailbox attached to a tree. You can leave a note inside or sign the sheet that you made it here!
