Trail Overview
FS 9021 is a bidirectional trail within the Manistee National Forest. Located off East Buchanan Road to the north and East Pierce Road to the south, this trail is easily accessible. Most of the trail is a combination of dirt and sand. Starting on the north side of this route, you'll twist and turn as the trail becomes more sandy and rutted. As you continue traversing, you'll be rewarded with exquisite views of a section of the forest with towering red pine trees. Like most Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause downed trees, washouts, & mud holes. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle with limited places to pass. The southern end of this trail finishes at East Pierce Road, where the trail ends with a lot of really soft and loose sand. Taking this route in a south-to-north fashion would create more difficulty due to the soft sandy start and elevation change throughout. As always, PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY and be respectful of our public lands so future generations can have access to these trails!
