Trail Overview
FS 9506 is an incredible out-and-back trail within the Manistee National Forest. Located off East Gale Road, this trail is easily accessible. Most of the trail is a combination of dirt and sand. Starting, you'll begin in a dense portion of the forest with very little overgrowth along the trail. As you continue, the trail twists and turns with sandy berms and a few washed-out, rutted sections that are fun to drive. Like most Michigan trails, the conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause downed trees, washouts, & mud holes. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle with limited places to pass. The end of this trail finishes with a descent to a small turnaround loop. This spot overlooks the North Branch White River. This is an excellent spot to stop and stretch your legs, have a bite to eat, and enjoy the beautiful nature this national forest has to offer. Feel free to take the trek to the water; however, don't forget you'll have a VERY steep climb to get back up. As always, PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY and be respectful of our public lands so future generations can have access to these trails!
