Trail Overview
Forest Road 14570 is a short spur trail that navigates from its intersection with Forest Road 14572, to Forest Road 13040. This trail serves as a quick way to access the east or west side of the Forest Island Trail system, rather than having to navigate further north or south where the eastern and western trails connect. This trail is a moderately maintained gravel/ sand forest road. The trail is just under two vehicles wide for its entire length. This will require larger vehicles to slow down and pull over to safely pass each other. The surrounding scenery is dominated by mature pines, with grassy undergrowth. The trail remains mostly flat, with only a couple of very minimal elevation changes across the trail. Cell service in this area is very spotty, and traveling with downloaded maps is recommended to ensure successful navigation around the area.
Difficulty
The trail can be easily navigated by all experience levels. The sandy base will challenge 4x4s or small crossovers with less power and less aggressive tires, but this trail is still easily completed by that category of vehicle. Sight lines across the trail are generally good, but can be obstructed at times by undergrowth along the trail's edges.
