Trail Overview
Deward Cutover Dirt is an easy single-lane two-track that offers a peaceful ride through the heart of the Grayling Forest Management Unit in Crawford County. The route is well suited for high-clearance SUVs, stock 4x4 vehicles, and anyone looking to explore Northern Michigan's forest trail system without tackling difficult obstacles. The surface is a mix of dirt, gravel, and sand, with stretches of soft sand that can reduce traction and require careful throttle control. Towering pines and mature hardwoods line the trail, creating a scenic setting where wildlife sightings are common, while occasional wider sections provide enough room for oncoming vehicles to pass.
The trail can be driven in either direction and connects with Deward Road, making it a convenient link to additional forest roads and nearby riding opportunities.
