Trail Overview

Cedar Road Loop Trail is a seasonal loop trail within the Traverse City Forest Management Unit. Located just off 13 Mile Road, this trail is easily accessible. Starting from the southern end, you'll begin on a very grassy/sandy overgrown two-track. As you continue down the trail, it opens up a lot with expansive views of the surrounding forest. Although the trail surface consists of sand and dirt, it should be manageable for most vehicles. Dropping tire pressure won't be needed for this surface other than for user preference. PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY, and be respectful of our public lands so future generations can have access to these trails! As you weave along the trail, you may come across some washouts and/or mud holes. These typically aren't bad, but something to be noted. This is a trail that should be taken slowly to ensure you can take in its beauty. Like most Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail, including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. Come prepared. Most of this trail is only wide enough for one vehicle, with limited places to pass. The end of this trail concludes at Cedar Road where you can continue your adventure and explore the Plagany-Cedar Trail or head back out to 13 Mile Road for whatever's next. This is not a difficult trail, but it contains a lot of beauty and gives access to other trails nearby.
