612 Loop is an easy forest two-track designed for stock high-clearance vehicles and offroaders looking to explore the extensive trail system within the Grayling Forest Management Unit. This single-lane route winds through a scenic mix of pine forest and hardwoods on a surface of dirt, gravel, and patches of sand, creating a relaxing ride with frequent opportunities to spot wildlife. While the trail is generally narrow and winding, occasional pull-off areas and wider sections allow oncoming vehicles to pass without difficulty. Expect a mostly smooth drive with a few shallow ruts that may require extra attention after periods of wet weather. The route finishes at Highway 612 and provides convenient access to numerous nearby trails, making it a useful connector for building a longer day of exploring Northern Michigan.
