Trail Overview

3CT Trail is a bidirectional off-road trail within the Traverse City Forest Management Unit. This trail is located between 3rd Creek Trail and Thompsonville Road, which makes it easily accessible. This trail starts out in an overgrowth section of the forest with tons of leaves along the surface of the trail. This route outlines a gorgeous square of Red Pine Trees that tower above. You can also tell that from all the pine needles along the trail. It almost makes you lose the trail completely. The track has some tree roots along a few of the sections as well, so keep that in mind when it comes to tire placement. It can be very dense here at times, so use caution. The trail opens up a bit towards the end, but still has a ton to experience. Like most of Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail, including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle with limited places to pass. The route finishes at Thompsonville Road where you can either head home or continue on to the next nearby trail. Be sure to enjoy the wondrous landscape this trail offers and always be on the lookout for wildlife. This is a great place for wildlife viewing. There aren't any notable obstacles along this trail, but the dense forest is something to keep in mind. As always, PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY and be respectful of our public lands so future generations can have access to these trails!
