Trail Overview

This is one of the most scenic trails in this area. It follows and crosses a beautiful creek with lots of large rocks and palisades along the way. There are plenty of spots along the trail to stop and relax. Many trails spur off of this section. There is a cave along the way that you can walk into and check out.

Coming South from 421 near Sand Gap, this marked trail is paved for the first 3 miles. I'd rate it all a 2-3 except for Bethel Church Road, which we didn't travel today. Followed Tark Hill Road down to the creek and came back.

Beautiful trail. The map shows a very tight u-turn at an old house. The actual trail is across the other side of the 2 creeks where they meet. Deep mud puddles and deep water crossing. If there is mud you will need a winch/mud tires/ high clearance vehicle to continue forward. There are a couple of off camber obstacles along the way.
