Trail Overview
This hill climb presents a moderately challenging ascent with a narrow, carved-out path that has been shaped by water runoff and repeated use. The surface is heavily eroded, creating a deep center rut that may test vehicles with lower belly clearance or smaller tires. Several exposed tree roots, under a foot in height, add to the uneven terrain and can cause traction loss if approached without proper line choice. The climb has close trees on both sides that will limit maneuvering room. Careful throttle control and momentum are important to maintain traction through the loose dirt and leaf-covered surface. While not extreme, this obstacle requires attention and a capable vehicle, especially in wet conditions.
Difficulty
While it doesn’t feature major ledges or extreme inclines, the eroded ruts and exposed roots require careful tire placement and traction control. Vehicles with lower ground clearance may struggle with the center rut, and the loose dirt can make ascending more challenging. Recovery points are available due to nearby trees, but precise driving is still needed to avoid getting hung up. Suitable for moderately experienced drivers and capable rigs, especially those with decent tires and clearance.
History
This park was formerly known as Sandy Bottoms, and longtime visitors may still refer to it by that name. The access road and staging area have evolved over time, but it remains a well-known local spot for off-road events and community rides.
