Trail Overview
Lingle Creek Road is an ideal, beginner-friendly gravel route for four-wheel-drive vehicles, SxSs, and dual-sport motorcycles looking to explore the scenic rolling hills of southern Illinois. Spanning approximately 2.8 miles with a mild elevation gain of 91 feet, the road closely parallels Lingle Creek, winding past picturesque farmland and dense woodland. This route also acts as a crucial connector, leading drivers directly to Silica Hill Road to access some of the region's more demanding off-road trail networks.
With a technical rating of 2, the unpaved surface consists of lesser-maintained gravel that features mild washboarding, potholes, mounding, and small water collection areas. Two low-water bridges cross the creek along the path, requiring caution as they can quickly become hazardous or impassable during flash flooding events. Because of the surrounding forest, fallen trees are a frequent obstacle, so carrying a chainsaw or trimming tool is highly recommended to safely clear the path while ensuring only trees blocking the road are cut.
