Trail Overview
Starting at Inman Canyon Motorized Trailhead, this route will take you on the backroads through the Caribou National Forest and the Portneuf Range. This trail starts out easy with a relatively smooth gravel road, and a few switchbacks. Once you complete this section it becomes very dusty, especially if in a group. Turning off of the main road, it is time to engage the 4x4 low range as the road is washed out and requires some driver skill as well as a small rock section that can be difficult in a stock 4x4 vehicle with no lockers or smaller tires. The trail continues on, winding through beautiful country and offering outstanding views of the surrounding mountains. There are also several places where cows or sheep may be openly grazing in the spring, summer, or fall so be on the lookout for livestock, as well as wildlife that frequents the area. The end of this trail will find you at Big Springs Campground, and a short hike leads you to the spring which is a wonderful place to cool off after a hot and dusty ride. From here you can take the divide road (70013) back towards the Inman Canyon Motorized Trailhead.

Difficulty
Some sections of the road are washed out and require straddling the washout to avoid body damage or potential rollover if not careful. There is a small rock section, ~1/8 of a mile long, that requires some driver skill or a more capable 4x4. Stock 4x4s can make it with some help spotting.
