Trail Overview

The Boundary Trail is a great 37-mile loop that circles around the majority of the Portneuf Range near Pocatello. This trail is open to mountain bikes, motorcycles and ATVs. There is a 50" limit, so no SxSs. There are several gates to enforce the regulations, so please be respectful. There are other areas SxSs can ride on. While this loop is only 37 miles, it is a fairly technical trail and will take a minimum of 4 hours. This trail is not for beginners. There are several rocky steep climbs, exposed areas and tire eating roots and rocks throughout. If you enjoy tight trails where 4x4 is necessary, then this is an awesome day trip. There are 3 trailheads that access the trail. You can park at the lower parking lot of Pebble Creek Ski Resort. There is access at the Big Springs Campground. The last is the Beach Hollow Trailhead. This one is about 10 minutes from Lava Hot Springs. Any of the trails are easily accessed from I-15.

5 stars from me! not an easy trail for beginners. The length of the trail is part of the challenge. 4 low and good equipment is a must

Challenging but fun on a bike. Some steep rough sections with large loose rock that aren’t as fun. There were some sections that would’ve been a big nope if I was on a 4 wheeler.

I've ridden motorcycles and four wheelers for fourty years and tons of technical trails. I'm telling you, this is NOT a 4/10 trail anymore! if you're a decent motorcycle rider you can do this. if you're on a four wheeler, you better know your crap. There is a huge potential to get hurt or pitch your machine off of cliffs.

The east side of the trail is in good shape and is fun to ride but the north, south and west are very rocky and overgrown. I expect to and enjoy the challenge of riding through some rocky terrain when I ride but this trail is miles of loose rock and a lot of the trail is overgrown.
