Trail Overview

Williamson Cove is an out-and-back branch trail from Hickorynut Gap in the Chattahoochee National Forest in Fannin County, Georgia. These trails are exclusively for full-sized, high-clearance vehicles, with clear signage prohibiting access for SxS and ATVs. The trail is mainly a one-lane trail that is relatively easy to navigate and primarily consists of gravel and dirt. However, a few minor rough patches, washouts, and muddy areas may pose challenges. The mud y conditions and washouts can deteriorate during wet seasons or following rainfall. Additi ally, a few small water features can be found just off the trail. Certain sections of the trail are pretty narrow, featuring a significant drop-off on one side; therefore, it is essential to exercise extra caution,n and some trail rash is expected. A spacious turnaround can accommodate several vehicles at the end of the trail. Since it is not heavily trafficked, preparing adequately before your visit is advisable, as there are no bathrooms or gas stations nearby, and cell phone coverage can be sporadic. The completion time refers to the total duration of the round trip, which starts and ends at Hickorynut Gap.

In town for the weekend and saw this report of FSR 792 being obstructed. We rode FSR 797 in January this year during the snow so was familiar with how to get there (Devils Den Rd to entrance). The small tree had already been cut and cleared. Picture is us coming out at tree area. We were able to ride the entire 792 no other issues although there are some tight spots. I sat the small brown sign up for 792 it was knocked over and lying on the ground by the entrance but is extremely faded and not really well read.

Tree down 1/4 way into trail just past the turn off for the nature conservation area. Needs a chainsaw or winch to move it and I had neither.

Very short in before you get to a locked gate at the turn around.

Overgrown toward the back-half of the trail, which for us anyway, makes this a better winter trail. Otherwise its fairly easy. We had our Bronco Badlands Sasquatch and our friends had Gladiators. No problem for any of us.
