Trail Overview

Mudholes. More mudholes. No, really, 18 mudholes of significance. Oh, and a very pretty drive up to the top of Stonewall Knob via an offshoot. This is a nice trail with a couple of camping spots. You will need a high-clearance vehicle. We did the main trail in 2WD, though there are at least a couple of the mudholes that are pretty deep with no way to bypass them.

Difficulty

This is a solid 4/10 trail in the North Georgia mountains. This trail has 18 mudholes of significant size, with at least 2 or 3 of them being quite deep and slick on the bottom. There is one unavoidable 15-inch drop-off with a corresponding step-up on the return, forming a ledge where a root crosses the road. The road has many sections that are narrow without a place to pass, so someone will be backing up if you meet anyone else along the way.

Muddy/WetRough/Deteriorated

Easy trail, good out and back. Both gates were closed at the end, so couldn't go all the way. But, fun trail thay just needed high clearance 4WD. Lockers not required. Simple and easy, just go slow and pick your lines well and you'll have no troubles. Have fun!!!

There are 6 or 7 water holes you have to drive through. The first one is the only one that felt like it had a little bit mud at the bottom, still easily got through in 2wd(33"mud tires). All the rest are hard bottom just a big splash for the kids. Where the trail "ends" you could easily keep going if you didn't care about scratches or someone walked ahead and trimmed some limbs but there is little to no room to turn around if you choose to proceed. I drive the trail the day after heavy rain.
