Trail Overview

Starting on the south side of the trail, you will come across well-maintained gravel roads with opportunities for fishing and dispersed camping. Further north, there are washouts and a few rock ledges/gardens that require a high-clearance vehicle and 4x4 if there has been recent rain. Along the way, several small off-shooting trails will make a muddier experience if desired.

The northern half of the road is not maintained, with several spots of washouts that are off-camber and slick. Towards the top of the mountain, the trail begins to get more rocky, with a few protruding rocks up to 18 inches and a few small rock shelves.

The other comments are accurate. A lot of rock gardens and a few washouts that you can pick your line on. The biggest obstacle is the step up coming from north to south at the very start.

Going north to south is the preferred way. There are some good washouts and rocks to navigate. Stock vehicles (4runner, Frontier) made it fine with some thoughtful placement of wheels.

We traveled the trail from the South. The Northern two miles are where it's the most challenging. There are some off camber spots that twisted up the truck pretty good. We traveled down hill for this section. If you want more of a challenge run it North to South. It was mostly dry but I can see it being a bit tricky in the rain or after a good downpour. I'll be hitting this one the next time we are in town and possibly camping for the night.

The trail was awesome, from the south entrance you have a creek access and places to picnic with fire pit. Toward the middle of the trail it starts getting very very rocky with some mud holes. Toward the end it gets very rutted, in some places deep with no option to go off camber. If you are a beginner you should not come alone. Other than that super fun trail.
