Trail Overview

The trail to get to this side trail (Gold Mine Road) starts as a gravel one- to two-lane road. Once you get in a few miles, it becomes a very overgrown, narrow at times, dirt road with several areas of mud and obstacles. Once you are off the main trail, it gets a little rougher as you make your way up to the old Holden Cemetery (founded in 1850).

Difficulty

The trail is very narrow in places so expect limb scratches. A few areas are washed out and may require 4WD if the weather is right.

Full size Bronco and lots of pinstripes. Alot of storm debris on roadside that has been cleared from road but small limbs sticking out in road, lots of new spring growth out into road.

Pretty much the limit of what my Ascent could do. Almost got stuck at one point, but otherwise doable besides a few front bumper scrapes (Tacoma had no issue). Pretty much constant pinstriping at the final climb due to overgrown bushes, so don't go if you care about your paint. Very peaceful at the top, worth the long trek in.

Tight trail to get back to the cemetery, you’ll get a few pinstripes, but that’s the fun in exploring. Overall, worth the experience.

Took Gold Mine Road to get here obvs. Trail is narrow with a lot of trees growing over trail. Slow going for a bit but the cemetery at the end was fun to explore. Cool, old, and overgrown. Recommend going as it’s getting dark for a better “vibe”.. haha
