Trail Overview
This out-and-back trail is tucked away within the Oconee National Forest, offering a quiet and somewhat secluded experience for those who enjoy exploring less-traveled paths. The route itself is a narrow, single-lane gravel trail, flanked by tall, overgrown grass along both sides and even sprouting through the middle, giving it a rustic and untouched feel. At the end of the trail, visitors will find a spacious clearing that could serve as a potential site for dispersed camping. However, campers should be aware that this open area also contains a small cemetery with graves dating back to the mid-1800s, which adds a unique, though possibly eerie, historical atmosphere to the location.
Difficulty
This is a very simple, single-lane gravel trail. In a few spots, there are pull-off areas along the roadside that allow vehicles to pass one another. The route is smooth and straightforward, making it suitable for nearly all licensed vehicles without difficulty.
History
At the end of the trail is the Johnson Family Cemetery. Eight grave sites are at this location. No further information is known.
