Trail Overview

Billups Road is an out-and-back trail that winds through the Redlands Wildlife Management Area of the Oconee National Forest. It leads to a primitive camp and a primitive boat launch on the Oconee River just north of Oconee Lake. The trail surface is a generous one lane wide and is well maintained with a gravel base suitable for two-wheel drive vehicles. Billups winds through dense forest as it slowly descends to the riverbank. The area at the end of the road has plenty of places to pitch a tent, and a towable camper was observed. Plenty of bankfront is available for shore fishing, and the primitive launch can handle small boats.
