Trail Overview

This trail is in the Oconee National Forest, with the entrance just south of Springfield Church off US HWY 278. There are private lands mixed with federal lands. It's a pretty trail with creeks, lined with broad-leaf and pine. There is a mud pit at the end of the trail that can be crossed only in lifted 4x4 trucks. There are a couple of spots for camping along the trail.

Two track dirt road out and back in good shape for the gravel base. Medium size mud hole off to the side about 70% of the way to the end, but not affecting trail. There has been some travel beyond the end of the marked trail with a bit of a mud hole but technically that’s off the trail. Everything in good shape, passable with a normal passenger vehicle. There was a foot trail at the end, leading further down towards the river, but did not investigate.

Trail is basically a dirt/gravel road, but there two downed trees with just enough rough to go around. No real obstacles other than a power line area access, (no real trail just a few wheel tracks) an off camber wash out near the end, a turn around, and what looked like to be a bounty hole. Nothing really worth seeing unfortunately.

Basically, it was a dirt road. There was a large tree down a ways down the trail that blocked the entire road. Had to turn around.
