Trail Overview

**Currently closed due to rock/mud slide from fire** Check out the side roads, and enjoy some fun terrain on this trail in the Roosevelt National Forest. There is a fun little loop off the east side. Watch for gates and signs during hunting season to avoid hefty penalties. There is some camping available along the route. Open June 15 to November 30.

Difficulty

Difficult. One steep rocky section on the way to Storm Mountain gets chewed up at times. Most of the area is easy to moderate. Eastside loop is easier with a few rocky sections.

Got to the trail head coming from Masonville, and the gate said closed private property and then further up the gate. It had storm Mountain access road, but there was three gates in the way before we could even get there. Not open would really like to see On X off-road more on top of this because the worst thing is getting into a trail and it’s closed

Lots of deadfall on FS 153 East of FS 128. Did an overnighter on a motorbike, and was able tip-toe around a few, but had to wrestle a few to get by. Vehicle would definitely need to bring a saw/chainsaw. Gate at E end closed.

Entered from the Storm Mtn. side. Leaves still hanging on. Past peak. Went to the left hand split. Turned west. Very cool trail Saw very little sign of anyone being up there recently.

We pulled up and trail was posted closed and no trespassing. The owner pulled up. I chatted with this old lady for a bit. Her property is up for sale now, so the new owner may allow seasonal access.

Entered from East on 153. Went all the way through. Some steep loose gravel but not too hard. Jeep transmission overheated some. Exited on FS 128. Was good

Clouds rolled in so there were no views but great trail with a half dozen small obstacles. Many inclines hitting 20 degrees and off camber. At the top there is an alternate obstacle that would require 35+ with high clearance, plates and rails that we bypassed because we don’t have rails yet. One time used rear locker. 25 psi air down with 35” was about perfect.

This trail has been closed for 3 yrs. because of the Cameron Pass fire. Some areas were not burnt. Great views and a fun drive. There are some rugged and hairy spots. Lots of side trails that I'll investigate next time

Very fun, scenic and easy trail. One the rougher spots going around the loop I wish I had a spotter but it’s doable if you take it slow when solo
