South Fork Lake Creek Road

South Fork Lake Creek Road begins just off Independence Pass, and it, as well as other trails in the vicinity, leads toward the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness, providing access to myriad non-motorized trails. Although an easy trail, your suspension will be tested as there doesn't seem to be any easy way to traverse the ever-changing dips, whoops, and potholes. You can see and/or hear the creek the majority of the way, which seems to elevate the experience of what you're taking in as you climb up to over 11,000 feet with Collegiate Peaks coming more clearly into view. The trail dead-ends at a gate, but enjoy the way out as the views on the way down are just as sweet.
