Trail Overview
This is a 2.1-mile-long single track through the Pike National Forest that mostly gradually descends from north to south off of the Sheep Mountain Trail down to the Almgren Trail. It’s a bit shelfy on the north end with mild exposure as it drops down the mountain, and continues on a narrow single track winding through the pine forest. There are some small embedded rocks and roots in the trail, but overall it’s not very difficult. It’s pretty flowy for the most part, with very gradual switchbacks and no major obstacles. This trail is great for less experienced riders, and allows for a shorter loop to connect Sheep Mountain Trail to Almgren if you don’t want to do all of Sheep Mountain.
Difficulty
Although this trail is pretty easy with no major obstacles, riders should be aware of exposure and narrow segments at higher elevations. It’s a good option for newer riders looking to expand their skills into intermediate singletrack terrain.
