Trail Overview
Louie’s Loop is very similar to Almgren and the Sheep Mountain Interconnect trail, being a moderately easy forested single track with small loose and embedded rocks, but no major obstacles. It has small roots and sticks in the trail, and goes through tall, skinny lodgepole pine. It’s mostly a gradual descent from north to south, starting on Almgren Trail, and ending at a pinch point on the south end when it connects to Forest Road 178. It only loses about 450 feet of elevation over 1.7 miles. It meanders through the forest with gradual curves, and is overall a pretty approachable trail for less experienced riders. This trail is closed to motorized use from 1/1 to 6/15.
Difficulty
This is a moderately easy single track due to the lack of major obstacles and mostly a smooth surface. However, it does tightly curve through the forest at times, and riders still need to be aware of potentially downed logs and debris in the trail.
