Sarlacc

Sarlacc is a fast and flowy singletrack trail in the North Fruita Desert designed primarily for dirt bike riders seeking a scenic, moderate challenge with incredible ridgeline views of the Fruita Valley. Spanning approximately 7.9 miles with an elevation range between 6,207 and 6,646 feet, this route offers a thrilling mix of smooth dirt surfaces and rocky challenges. The trail features 982 feet of cumulative elevation gain, maintaining a relatively consistent moderate difficulty rated at a 4 out of 10. While much of the path is fast-flowing, riders will encounter several technical obstacles, including rock pinches, tight ledges, and significant ledge exposure along the cliff edges that require focused concentration. Because of its south-facing orientation, the trail tends to dry out quicker than other nearby routes after rain or snow, making it an excellent option in the shoulder seasons, though it can become intensely hot during the peak summer months. Four-wheel-drive vehicles, ATVs, and SxSs are not permitted on this narrow singletrack, ensuring a dedicated and undisturbed experience for motorized two-wheel users. Access is convenient via the Bureau of Land Management staging area off 18 Road, just north of Fruita in Mesa County. Whether ridden from east to west or vice-versa, the trail delivers consistent, sweepingly panoramic vistas of the Book Cliffs and the grand valley below, making it a must-visit destination for dirt biking enthusiasts.
