Trail Overview

FS 717A is an easy and long ATV trail through the North Divide Off-Road Vehicle Trail System, flowing through gradual rolling hills for about 10 miles in the Pike National Forest. The ATV trail is generally pretty wide, on a mix of dirt and pea gravel, with whoops, banked corners, and fun, flowy sections. At times it is narrower, as it is cut into the hillside, and there are a few sections that have ruts on the side of the trail, or up the middle of the path, that you have to watch out for that make it more uneven and off-camber. Additionally, there are a couple of small rock ledges about a foot tall. After 4.5 miles, there is a quarter-mile-long section of road on FS 354 before connecting to the southern half of the trail. There were a few big water puddles on the road and trail that were unavoidable, and a few narrow sections where the trail is dug out below tall dirt banks.
