Trail Overview
This trail begins off the North Sandhills backway and starts as a wider, maintained route with a gravel and dirt surface. Early sections have 5–8-inch ruts and a campsite at 0.2 miles that fits two vehicles with level ground and a fire ring.
The trail climbs steadily in elevation through dense forest with scenic mountain views. Monitor vehicle temperatures due to the elevation gain. Around 4 miles, the trail becomes much tighter, and by 4.5 miles obstacles require 18–20 inches of clearance and 4WD or AWD.
At 5.2 miles, sections require careful navigation with 18 inches of clearance and 10–15° off-camber terrain. A large campsite near the end fits up to 12 vehicles with level ground, a fire ring, and shaded camping areas.
Overall, this is a challenging trail requiring an experienced driver, spotter, and recovery plan. The trail ends where logs block further travel, with enough room to turn around.
Difficulty
This trail has increasing technical difficulty, including deep ruts, tight forest sections, 18–20-inch clearance obstacles, and off-camber terrain. Higher elevation, limited maneuvering space, and challenging lines require high clearance, 4WD or AWD, an experienced driver, and careful vehicle placement.
