Trail Overview

Goshorn is the furthest south loop in the Thunder Trails. Going counterclockwise, it starts on a grassy hillside, but then quickly enters the gambel oaks and aspen trees. It goes along the rim of the mesa, overlooking the valley below. It has embedded small rocks and tight turns similar to the other three loops in the trail system. The majority of the trail is pretty smooth though, with small loose rocks and small roots at times, but no major obstacles. It goes next to a couple of cool rock walls though. The trail rounds the mesa through tall ponderosa pine trees and one rockier section then heads back north. After it crosses the road and heads back north, it's a lot faster and smoother with hardly any rocks. It goes through wide open meadows with sparse trees, and fewer bushes lining the trail.
