Trail Overview
Glade Park Overlook is a pass-through trail on BLM land north of Pinon Mesa. The trail is accessed from 16 1/2 Road on both ends. It's a slow technical drive featuring rock gardens, ruts, and some steep off-camber sections. A full-size vehicle may struggle between tight branches. When driven from south to north, the trail provides great views of the plains above the National Monument, the Grand Mesa, and even the Book Cliffs. This trail has almost no traffic and is largely influenced by the water runoff of the hillside. The surrounding area offers dispersed camping, but there is none near the trail itself.
Difficulty
This trail is mostly uneven, rutted dirt surfaces with a few consistently rocky sections. It is technical when straddling deep ruts, and the rock gardens have features around 20 inches with various line choices. The off-camber section is steep and is high consequence, but is manageable at slow speed. While the large rock garden features are optional, the ruts must be navigated carefully, granting an overall rating of 5.
