Trail Overview

Cumberland Trail is moderate, with much of the trail being rocky and uneven. There are some patches of dirt and areas that open to meadows. Some areas are steep and very rocky with large rocks to traverse; a high clearance vehicle is recommended as there can be a bit of water, and there are parts left on the trail by other people. Some of the trail would be very difficult to travel in the winter due to the creek on the trail freezing and becoming a sheet of ice. There are nice views on the North end of the trail.

Lower section was a rowdy good time. Down near where it connects with N Clear Creek, and the trail turns in to a river, there was still some snow covering the trail/river. Made for an fun romp. The upper sections are rather tame but if connecting with N Clear Creek be ready for some boulder bouncing.

Crazy crazy snow out of the back half. If you have a rig light enough to ride the hard pack you can totally do it. 3g 4runner was making it but we stopped due to my GX sinking. Took a couple hours to get it pulled out. Otherwise gorgeous trail and really great challenges!

brutal slog in the woods. very tight creekbed full of jagged boulders. no views. east side especially rough. high clearance required you will probably want 33s or 35s. this was no fun at all in a stock Tacoma 30"at4w

Very deep snow. We got stuck. We approached it from yankee hill and it was awful. We had to be pulled out.

We only did FSR 271.1F it was fun! Rocky for sure and got pretty tight with trees, and some points it was extremely tight, we were in a 4 seater SxS and had no issues, a jeep would probably scrape along the trees in some spots. Again we only did 271.1F and looped back in to yankee hill road. 175.1

This trail is a mother, massive boulders and rock gardens. Last part closer to clear creek road is a fun creek.

The Miner’s gulch section has become extremely washed out towards the creek section of the trail. We ran it in reverse at night. High clearance highly recommended
