Trail Overview
After passing the entrance to Hahns Lake Campground, this trail continues into a more remote and scenic section of the route. Most of the trail is relatively well maintained and remains similar to the section leading from the highway to the campground. The main challenge comes in a short middle section where several deep ruts cross the trail two or three times, requiring careful wheel placement and a little more attention from the driver. Once through this section, the trail returns to a relatively flat and easy route, with beautiful mountain scenery, dense pine forests, and frequent opportunities to spot deer along the road. The fall colors can make this especially scenic. Farther along, a gate marks the end of the motorized route, with the trail continuing beyond the gate as a non-motorized route.
Difficulty
In dry conditions, the only challenging section of this road is a very short stretch containing several ruts up to 12 inches deep, requiring careful wheel placement to navigate safely. Aside from this brief section, the road is relatively well maintained and should be manageable for most capable 4WD vehicles.
