Trail Overview
This short out-and-back route begins with an easy drive through open sagebrush flats and scattered scrub pines. The first quarter mile is relatively level and suitable for most high-clearance vehicles. Beyond that, the trail steepens considerably, transitioning into a rocky, loose climb with multiple rain ruts and several short but challenging hill sections. Drivers should expect uneven terrain, loose rock, and off-camber obstacles that require 4WD and careful tire placement. While the trail is not particularly long, the steeper climbs demand moderate driving skill and adequate traction. There are no designated campsites or notable viewpoints at the end of the route, but there is a convenient turnaround area that makes it easy to reverse course and enjoy the descent back to the trailhead.
Difficulty
While this trail is not exceptionally difficult in dry conditions, it does feature several steep climbs with loose rock that require careful tire placement and moderate driving skill. A full-size 4WD vehicle can complete the route, but drivers should be aware of a few narrow sections where overhanging branches may create both width and height challenges. This difficulty rating reflects dry trail conditions. Following rain, snowmelt, or other wet weather, traction can deteriorate significantly, increasing the overall difficulty and making some sections considerably more challenging.
