787 ATV Trail

787 is one of the longer ATV trails in the Rampart Range Recreation Area at almost 8 miles long. It starts at the most northern staging area on Rampart Range Road right off State Highway 67, at the same trailhead as the Beginners Trail. This one is made up of tons of tight little curves. It zig-zags its way south to meet up with the Barr Trail (#673). It meanders the side of the mountain the whole way, on a bit shelfy of a trail, going through valleys, aspen groves, and past giant granite boulders. The trail stays pretty steady with small uphills and downhills the whole time, but there is one bigger climbing section in the middle of the trail. There's nothing too hard, but there are a lot of whoops, a couple of sections with embedded rocks or roots, and a wooden bridge. If you connect this trail with the Barr Trail, you can ride all the way to the town of Sprucewood and get lunch at the Sprucewood Inn.
