Trail Overview

76 Road is a highly accessible and scenic 1.2-mile dirt trail that begins near a sprawling staging area close to the main entrance. Immediately along the start of the route, visitors will find a convenient campground. The early sections of this path are characterized by smooth, effortless travel conditions with only light, shallow ruts ranging from 2 to 4 inches, making it perfectly suitable for most 2WD vans and larger, wider vehicles. Despite its close proximity to the bustling highway, the road is brilliantly shielded by gentle rolling hills, creating a surprisingly remote and tranquil atmosphere. As you navigate the trail, you are treated to sweeping 360-degree views of the sprawling valley and the majestic surrounding mountain ranges. Along the way, there are multiple dispersed camping opportunities. A notable second campsite features excellent vistas and convenient fire ring access. The trail culminates at a final scenic overlook campsite. This highly desirable overnight spot boasts expansive panoramic views and can easily accommodate several vehicles. Please note that at the end of this accessible route, a clearly posted "route closed" sign marks the absolute limit; do not proceed past this signage.

Difficulty

This trail earns a Level 2 rating due to the presence of light, consistent ruts measuring between 2 to 4 inches along the dirt surface. While it remains highly accessible and passable for standard 2WD vans and large RVs without requiring specialized four-wheel drive, the mildly uneven terrain dictates a controlled, deliberate approach. Drivers should anticipate maintaining a steady, cautious average speed of approximately 7 miles per hour, safely completing the 1.2-mile journey in roughly 10 minutes. This moderate pacing ensures a smooth ride, preventing excessive bouncing over the shallow ruts while allowing passengers to enjoy the expansive panoramic views.
