Trail Overview
Windmiller South Road - FS 12N25C begins immediately with a steep, rocky uphill stretch that takes you straight into an area of recent logging activity. It is a bumpy road with many downed tree limbs to navigate, though it remains reasonably wide for a single-lane track. Larger rigs will fit, provided they have the engine and 4WD power required to conquer the rocky grade. At the top of this climb sits a dispersed campsite featuring views and a large granite rock feature, marking the point where you pass back onto Forest Service land. While this rocky campsite is fully accessible, recent logging operations have temporarily impacted its overall quality and aesthetics. If you choose to continue past the campsite, be prepared for a very overgrown road. The final section is thick with midline foliage growth and ultimately dead-ends with no obvious campsite or turnaround at the terminus.
Difficulty
The trail earns a Level 3 rating primarily due to the initial steep and rocky grade. Drivers will need adequate 4WD power and momentum to navigate the rough terrain and scattered logging debris. Past the main campsite, the difficulty shifts to dense brush overgrowth and high midline foliage.
