Trail Overview
South Silver - FS 11N39 is a two-way road running just over a mile from Ice House Wrights Lake Road toward Ice House Reservoir. The route opens on broken, unmaintained asphalt before shifting to gravel at around 0.2 miles, then improves to well-graded gravel near 0.4 miles with views of Ice House Reservoir opening up on the climb. Several steep water bars appear in the first half mile and again farther in, and a dispersed campsite with signs of a small-sedan camper sits near the marked but unconfirmed Silver Ware - FS 11N39A spur. The road continues through a Forest Service-maintained section, passes another dispersed campsite around a bend, then narrows, ruts, and grows overgrown toward its end. Best driven in summer and fall.
Difficulty
South Silver 11N39 rates a 3 primarily due to a series of steep water bars encountered in the first half mile and again deeper into the road, which require some ground clearance to cross without scraping. The final stretch narrows and roughens with ruts and overgrown vegetation.
