Trail Overview

The trail consists mainly of dirt, rocks, and some roots. It is wide enough for one vehicle, but there are turnouts for passing throughout the trail. Stock height 2WD SUV and truck-type vehicles are capable of completing this trail. There are some soft and loose dirt areas, but they are not an issue for 2WD vehicles. There are also plenty of scenic views with safe places to stop on turnouts that do not block traffic. These turnouts have space for multiple vehicles, so it also will not affect others from pulling off if needed. Cell phone service is reliable in most areas of the trail, but downloading an offline map is highly recommended as cell phone service is not reliable in areas leading up to the trail. There are no gas stations within miles of the trail so fueling up prior to the trip is recommended.

Difficulty

2WD vehicles are capable of completing the trail but there is potential of sections becoming harder if rain or snow occur prior to travel. There is also a cliff on one side of the trail for the majority of the trail so caution is advised.

Nice, scenic trail. 2wd friendly, airing down not needed but will make for smoother ride.

Easy for me, 39s, Locked 2wd Until I didn't want to warm up Trans. Nice Blacked out High Dollar Lexus Let me by & they seemed to have a great time, the guy letting his woman drive so he can spot her. It is rutted out and I can see it being challenging for small tire rigs, with open diffs.

started at Sheep Canyon and came out of Stockton Flats. was a pretty easy ride, 2wd will definitly make it through unless it's wicked wet or snowed on. we had some good rain and alittle mud. there's a few spots to stop off and test your might on. many spots to stop and camp. did this in about 2 hours with plenty of stops. good folk on the mountain, everyone was friendly.

It was a perfect day for the trail, so I decided to take the family out this evening. Other than that, as we were leaving, we saw a convoy of some rigs heading up. Nobody was on the trail, it was just us. In certain parts of the trail, you can see people have been going up and throwing massive amounts of trash.

Beautiful warm clear day, tons of people at the Lytle Creek entrance to Slade Canyon. Saw 1 other person once up on the ridgeline the rest of the time. Used 4x4 could have been done is 2wd.
