Branching off Markham Ridge Road - FS 21N06, Spanish Ridge - FS 21N39 is a quiet, single-track out-and-back spur that gently descends along a mountain crest. Situated within Mendocino National Forest, the surrounding landscape features a mix of shady pine groves and open slopes undergoing natural recovery from the 2020 August Complex Fire. The roadway consists of a smooth, well-packed dirt and fine gravel surface, earning an easy Class 1 Technical Rating. Near the 0.7-mile mark, a secluded dispersed campsite sits slightly elevated off the road, offering a stone fire ring, pleasant tree shade, and parking space for up to two vehicles. Just beyond a curve at 1.2 miles, a fallen tree completely spans the pathway and blocks further progress, requiring drivers to execute a turnaround at the bend immediately prior.
