Trail Overview

Sawmill Trail is a rocky and loose out-and-back trail. The lower section starts fairly wide but narrows to a single-vehicle width for the remainder of the climb. There are numerous switchbacks and areas with large rocks and ruts. Adventure bikes should have a fun time, 4x4s might find it more of a challenge. There are some nice views from the turnaround at the top along with the remnants of a stone kiln from the 1930s.

Super rocky trail literally from start to finish you will be slow and steady. Not that fun for a solo Trip since it’s such a slow pace. Bigger tires is a plus for clearance MT or AT. aired down to 18 psi. No lockers needed if you choose the right line.

Made it up in two 4x4 Tacomas on 285s; turned on my locker for one section that was pretty rutted out, but it wasn't necessary. The vegetation covers more of the trail towards the top of the mountain so expect minor pinstriping. Worth the drive to see the kiln at the top!

Man this trail was tough if you dont have a full size spare dont even try this trail. We Got a flat tire on rear passenger toyo open country a/t 255/55/19 prob half way into the trail going up. Lots of pointy rocks. Our adjustable air suspension helped a ton. 4x4 a must. Major clearance issues for people with fixed height. Rock crawl mode ✔️ max height mode ✔️ we encountered some snow at the very top by the oven landmark. You cross through a stream. You drive on SAND ROCKS BOULDERS MUD WATER AND SNOW

Went on this trail with 2 other friends.. all of us had 4x4 no lockers tho… terrain was VERY rough lots of outgrown bushes and very sharp rocks didn’t seem like it was driven through very often couldn’t make it at all the way to the top either snow got very thick and trucks started to want to slide..probably got .08 miles away from the very top. I think a rear locker would be best for this trail and for sure 4x4 and be ready for some scratches and a slow climb in 4low to the top. Might need a spotter in a couple of spots. 2/26/26 was when I did the trail.

Lots of sharp rocks and an outstanding view once you get to the top. Also the weather was nice and cool. I would definitely recommend this trail for 4x4. I went on my e moto and made up there with ease.

Road was a bit rough. We went with a large group of about a dozen vehicles. The only vehicle that didn’t make it to the top wasn’t 4 wheel drive. Everyone else made it to the top. All in all a fun day.

We couldn't have picked a better day to get out on the trail. The road was very nice and had one challenging spot that I needed to turn on my rear locker , it was rocky for the most part but had some very smooth sections. The views were spectacular. Didn't see another person the whole time. We'll be back.

Very rocky trail, most of the entire path is littered with rocks, make sure you have RT or at least AT tires and you’ll be good. Completed in stock height jeep. I’ve done this trail in the past with all season tires and trail made some small holes and tears in my tires. Great trail though, very fun. Recommend airing down to 15PSI.

Very fun trail, lots of rocks, some sharp ones. You have to take it slow and pick your lines but it's not overly technical or challenging. High clearance, 33" and a real locker are adequate to do this trail comfortably. I didn't see anyone else driving this trail.

Fun trail, great for beginners who feel they have gotten to know their rig and very familiar with it. High clearance is a must in about a handful of spots. As stated, good for anyone that’s a beginner and wanting more of a challenge but that’s not completely out of their element. Completed in a 2017 stock Jeep, Sport Wrangler with 33’s.
