Trail Overview

This is a mostly dirt and rocky trail that takes you up to Saddleback Lookout. The trail is kind of steep, and some sections are a shelf road. The trail does start to have quite a bit of rock and is a little more like shale rock the closer you get to the lookout. You can go up to the lookout, it is still manned by a person. The views are absolutely gorgeous from the lookout.

Despite the road being pretty short, it is pretty mind blowing the views it brings, but also a bit challenging on the east side in the rocks if you don’t choose your line carefully. Stay up the inside of the road and you’ll be fine and take your time to enjoy the jaunt up to the top. Once up at the lookout, you can walk the catwalk and take in the breathtaking 360 degree views if the USFS is there. Definitely a worthy destination to remind you how small you are in this world, and give you a story worthy place to have that breakfast burrito you take up with you.
