Trail was a little damp from recent rain. Lots and lots of deep washed-out ruts from about half way through the trail to the end. Get used to off camber sections and long deep ruts. Did I mention the ruts? Pictures don’t do any justice for the steepness and depth of the holes on trails on some spots. It’s do-able, just very “puckery” on the way down to the cabin. Larger tires and lockers help. Don’t do this trail when it’s really muddy.

Start of the trail up to the creek and about a mile in all okay, small ruts but nothing major. Once down by the spring and old mining setup the ruts are extremely deep and road is soft making it easy to slidein. Do not recommend forest service road, lots of overgrowth, deep ruts and no space to turn around

Nice forest road with ruts that can be risky, lots of people riding dirtbikes and razr type buggie cars, and a few trucks and SUVs. Drive cautiously! Made it 75℅ of the way before I was forced to turn around due to ruts being to much for our car . Very fun trail though and connects to other forest roads .

The trail is open all the way to the cabin. The ruts are pretty deep from last months rains in a few spots, a couple of miles before the cabin. Though it is dry and moderate to climb back out of. Just let some air out and take your time.

Pretty gnarly for a 2002 RAV4, but if I can make it so can you. The first 75% of the trail is pretty easy with only a few spots where there are deep ruts. Near the end there’s a steep downhill section with deep ruts right before you get to the cabin. If you’re not careful you can end up rolling down the hillside. Just be sure you can make it back up before going down, because it’s steeper than it looks. Someone wrote on the wall inside the cabin that they got stuck there before and had to walk miles to get out.

Fun trail, some areas are rutted out. Went through the trail with three full size trucks. Two trucks on 35’s, and the other on 37’s. One tree was blocking trail, but we winched it and got it out of the way.

Some deep ruts but you can straddle most sections with good line choices. Pretty easy trail when dry.

I did this trail in a stock suspension and stock tires (33's) with my Rubicon 4xe. if you're doing the full stretch of trail, I recommend airing down to around 20 PSI which is what I did. There are plenty of sharp rocks towards the end that can pop your tire if you don't air down. The first 50% of the trail is a well maintained forest service road. The next 25% of the trail is gets slightly sketchy with some pretty nice ruts. the last 25% section of trail I was able to manage with my current setup and I scraped my diffs once or twice. I made it without a spotter but a spotter will definitely help. If youre ok risking a little bit of damage, solo on 33s and working 4x4 is ok. Just make sure you pick some good lines. I used 4hi going in and 4 lo on most of the technical sections going back out. Disconnecting your sway bar will add comfort but its not necessary.

Easy trail the first 3/4 of it. The last 1/4 is heavily rutted as you come down into the cabin. Once you hit the cabin, you come to a dead end and have to turn around and go back. Great day trip and we would recommend you check it out.

Had a great time on the trail. We saw two other guys. The last few miles had some huge ruts. I got stuck and had to get pulled back. Do not do this trail alone

the final descent towards the cabin is severely deteriorated, need pretty high travel and a spotter to negotiate it. had difficulty bringing a fullsize truck down here the smaller rigs had a bit easier time but definitely need spotters.

Trail is 3/4 for the first 3/4 of the way then is a solid 5/6 with large drops, extreme angles to pass an inch from fallen trees. Even had to move an old rusted axle off road edge to pass. You are on the edge of steep canyons the last mile and a lot of slipping on gravel. 4L crawling all the way. I would not recommend this for an inexperienced driver. We were in Rubicon’s and 3rd truck was Toyota And they had to turn around. Pucker factor 10 in three spots that allows only on VERY thin line otherwise you are 3-4feet down in a washed out ditch in the road that is very wide. Could have used a chain saw in one part but we pushed through with some minor scratches on the side.

Trail was great. A little tight and rutted in spots. I didn’t just fine in my stock Wrangler.

Recent rains have created significant erosion and muddy ruts. One section of FS 1N01 (Buchanan) was completely washed out (GPS 37.87636, -120.08363). Was an amazing weekend!s
