History
The history of Owens River Road is intertwined with the Owens Valley's struggles over water rights, particularly with the city of Los Angeles and the construction of the Los Angeles Aqueduct, which diverted water from the Owens River and into Los Angeles, ultimately causing the desiccation of Owens Lake.
