Trail Overview
This heavily traveled wash starts at Old Kane Road and ends on BLM 197 West. The surface is deep sand throughout, requiring constant momentum management. The trail is lined with large desert trees and brush, creating a vegetated corridor through the wash. You'll encounter lots of whoops, off-camber sections, and ruts all under 18 inches, creating varied obstacles. The trail goes in and out of other small washes as it navigates the terrain. After a mile from the north, the wash opens up to a slightly larger wash and is lined with very large trees and some sand walls, creating a more dramatic environment. The ruts on corners get deeper as you progress, demanding more attention. On the south side, the trail eventually comes out of the wash and ends up on the plateau, transitioning from enclosed wash to open terrain.
Difficulty
The deep sand requires four wheel drive, and airing down is essential for maintaining traction. The lots of whoops, off-camber sections, and ruts all under 18 inches create constant technical challenges throughout. The ruts getting deeper on corners as you progress add difficulty and require high clearance and careful line choice. The path goes in and out of other small washes adds vertical challenges. Being heavily traveled means the route is well defined, but also more rutted and churned up from traffic.
