Trail Overview
This trail starts at BLM 194 NW on the east side, coming out of that wash onto different terrain. The route travels up above a plateau on a flat surface rather than in a wash, though it drops in and out of a few washes along the way, which are all manageable with a high clearance vehicle. There are lots of off-camber sections, whoops, uneven surfaces, and ruts creating constant challenges throughout. The trail is surrounded by various desert bushes, adding vegetation to the landscape. The trail is very narrow at times, where you're surrounded by 2 to 3-foot sand walls creating an enclosed corridor. Part of this trail is part of the San Sebastian Natural Area, where you must stick to the trails, and camping is not allowed in this area, so respect these restrictions. Four wheel drive and high clearance are highly recommended for this demanding route.
Difficulty
The combination of lots of off-camber sections, whoops, uneven surfaces, and ruts creates a technically challenging ride that demands constant attention. The drops in and out of washes require careful approach angles and high clearance. The very narrow sections surrounded by 2 to 3-foot sand walls leave no room for error and create an enclosed environment. Four wheel drive and high clearance are highly recommended as essential equipment. Respect the San Sebastian Natural Area restrictions with no camping and stay on the trail.
