Trail Overview

This trail is just over 4 miles and functions as a point-to-point track, starting on Railroad Grade 77 and ending on Stevens Pass. The trail cuts through the Klamath National Forest in an area affected by the 2021 Antelope Fire, which burned over 154,000 acres. Visitors should check local fire restrictions and obtain a permit if needed before any campfire activities. The trail surface consists of hard, loose dirt that gets very dusty and maintains a width of only one vehicle, requiring awareness of any oncoming traffic. The area still shows significant evidence of the fire, with lots of burnt trees remaining throughout the landscape, and the terrain is now overgrown by thick sagebrush as the ecosystem continues its recovery process

Difficulty

This trail has an easy difficulty rating of 1 based on the hard-packed dirt surface and straightforward point-to-point routing. The primary considerations are the one-vehicle width requiring attention for oncoming traffic, dusty conditions affecting visibility, and awareness of unstable burnt trees when selecting camping locations rather than technical driving obstacles.
