Trail Overview
This narrow, fine-dirt trail climbs up and over the hillside through tight trees, overgrown vegetation, and frequent rock gardens. Ruts reach 4–8 inches deep with 4–6 inch ledges along the route. Around 0.9 miles, expect a steep hill climb with 6–8 inch ruts and rocks ranging from 6–10 inches in diameter. There is little room for vehicles to pass, and the fine dirt can become considerably more difficult when wet. Around 0.3 miles, a level campsite with a fire ring accommodates up to four vehicles. Near 0.5 miles, a larger shaded campsite accommodates up to eight vehicles or a trailer and includes level ground and a fire ring. The drive transitions in and out of dense forest, providing scenic views of the surrounding mountain ranges.
Difficulty
This trail is rated Level 3 because of the steep hill climb, 4–8 inch ruts, frequent rock gardens, 4–6 inch ledges, and 6–10 inch rocks. The narrow terrain and tight trees require careful maneuvering through several sections.
