Trail Overview
This very narrow, loose-dirt trail immediately begins with a steep climb up and over the hillside, with no room for vehicles to pass. Around 0.2 miles, an extended rock garden contains 2–6 inch rocks, while ruts along the climb reach 12–16 inches deep and rock ledges reach 8–12 inches tall. 4WD or AWD is required due to the steep grade, loose surface, and rocky terrain. Around 2.2 miles, the trail becomes significantly narrower with overgrown vegetation, although pinstriping is avoidable for most vehicles. Around 1.3 miles, a level campsite on the right accommodates up to three vehicles and includes a large fire pit with scenic views of the surrounding forest. The hillside setting provides forest scenery throughout the climb while taking drivers farther into the surrounding terrain.
Difficulty
This trail is rated Level 3 because of the steep hill climbs, 12–16 inch ruts, extended rock gardens, and 8–12 inch rock ledges. The loose dirt and narrow terrain add difficulty, making 4WD or AWD necessary for this route.
